  • At Philadelphia (12/8), Ross became the second player in Lions history to register a punt return touchdown (58 yards) and kickoff return touchdown (98 yards) in the same game. He joined RB Eddie Payton (vs. Minnesota December 17, 1977) as the only Lions players to accomplish this feat.
  • Ross is the 13th player (14th player including playoffs) in NFL history to score a punt return and kickoff return touchdown in the same game. He is the first player (regular season) to return a punt and kickoff for touchdown in a game since Miami WR Ted Ginn, Jr. vs. Seattle September 11, 2011.
  • Ross also became the fourth player in team history to record two total kick returns for touchdowns. Along with Payton and Drummond, Hall of Fame CB Jack Christensen recorded two punt return touchdowns in a game twice in his career (vs. Los Angeles, October 14, 1951; vs. Green Bay, November 22, 1951).

2013: Took over as the Lions’ return man midway through the season after spending the first three weeks of the season with Green Bay and one week on the Lions’ practice squad. Ended the year with six receptions for 67 yards (11.2 avg) and one touchdown, two rushes for 40 yards, 17 punt returns for 263 yards (15.5 avg) and one touchdown and 21 kickoff returns for 514 yards (24.5 avg) and one touchdown. Breakout performance came in eight inches of snow at Philadelphia (12/8) where he became the second player in Lions history to register a punt return touchdown (58 yards) and kickoff return touchdown (98 yards) in the same game.

  • Saw his first action with the Detroit Lions at wide receiver in Week 7 vs. Cincinnati (10/20).
  • Caught one pass for seven yards and returned one kick for 44 yards in Week 8 vs. Dallas (10/27).
  • In his first start with the Lions, had two catches for 28 yards in Week 10 at Chicago (11/10).
  • Started at tight end and caught one pass for 19 yards in Week 11 at Pittsburgh (11/17).
  • Returned two punts for 42 yards (long of 42 yards) and returned two kicks for 49 yards in Week 12 vs. Tampa Bay (11/24).

Also returned four punts for 46 yards, his longest for 35 yards that helped set up the Lions’ go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter. Also had three kick returns for 70 yards, his longest for 30 yards. and a 60-yard punt return that was nullified due to a penalty.
  • In eight inches of snow at Philadelphia (12/8), Ross became the second player in Lions history to register a punt return touchdown (58 yards) and kickoff return touchdown (98 yards) in the same game. Ross joins RB Eddie Payton (vs. Minnesota December 17, 1977) as the only Lions players to accomplish this feat.
  • Ross’ 58-yard punt return touchdown was the first by the Lions since WR Eddie Drummond recorded two fourth-quarter punt returns at Jacksonville November 14, 2004. Ross became the first Lions kick returner to record two total kick returns (punt or kickoff) since Drummond in 2004.
  • Ross’ 243 total kick return yards are the most by a Lions returner since Drummond registered 257 at Jacksonville November 14, 2004.
  • Returned four punts for 26 yards and one kick for 33 yards in Week 15 vs. Baltimore (12/16).
  • Returned a Giants punt 50 yards to the New York 30-yard line in the third quarter to set up a Lions touchdown drive in Week 16 vs. New York Giants (12/22). Also had one carry for 16 yards and three kick returns for 51 yards.
  • The 50-yard punt return was his fourth punt return of 20+ yards in the eight games he has played this season with the Lions this season.
  • Returned two punts for eight yards and one kick for 20 yards in Week 17 at Minnesota (12/29).

2012: Played in the final five regular-season games and both playoff contests with the Green Bay Packers after spending five games on the practice squad. Saw time primarily on special teams and limited action on offense. Tallied four punt returns for 103 yards (25.8 avg) and three kick returns for 86 yards (28.7 avg). In the playoffs, totaled one two kick returns for 28 yards (14.0 avg).

  • Saw time on special teams in his NFL debut with the Green Bay Packers in Week 13 vs. Minnesota (12/2).
  • Saw action on special teams in Week 15 at Chicago (12/16).
  • Assumed kick-return duties when WR Randall Cobb left the game in the third quarter with a knee/ankle injury in Week 16 vs. Tennessee (12/23). Also returned three kicks for 86 yards (28.7 avg), including a return of 44 yards.
  • Returned two kicks for 28 yards (14.0 avg) in the NFC Wild Card game vs. Minnesota (1/5).
  • Handled punt and kickoff return duties in the NFC Divisional game at San Francisco (1/12).

2011: Signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie free agent and spent the preseason with the club. After being waived by the Patriots, spent the final 13 games of the season on the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad.

COLLEGE
Played in 43 games (14 starts) during his four-year career at California. Amassed 57 receptions for 764 yards (13.4 avg) and three touchdowns, 25 rushes for 201 yards (8.0 avg) and two touchdowns, and 42 kick returns for 851 yards (20.3 avg). Finished his career ranked No. 2 on the school’s all-time punt return average list with an average of 15.2 yards per return (31 returns for 471 yards and one touchdown). Totaled 2,287 yards from scrimmage during his career, an average of 53.2 yards per contest.

2010: Played in 10 games (two starts), missing final two contests due to injury.

  • Contributed 818 yards from scrimmage (91 rushing, 210 receiving, 279 punt return, 238 kick return), a career-high average of 81.8 all-purpose yards per contest.

  • His career-best 344 receiving yards came on a career-high 22 receptions (15.6 avg).
  • Had the career-best performance in win vs. Washington State, amassing 228 yards from scrimmage (61 receiving, 92 punt return, 75 kick return) with a 76-yard punt return touchdown, a 61-yard reception and a 54-yard kick return, all career bests.

2008: Played in all 13 games (five starts), totaling 609 yards from scrimmage, including 62 rushing yards, 210 receiving yards and 337 kick return yards.

  • Recorded a season-high 56 receiving yards on three catches (18.7 avg) and a season-high 141 yards from scrimmage (85-yard kick return) at Arizona.
