Want access to a first-rate NFL training facility?

How about personal instruction from some of the leading professionals in conditioning, nutrition and supplements?

The Lions are hosting the 2nd Annual Detroit Lions Strength & Conditioning Clinic with strength coaches Jason Arapoff and Ted Rath and select Lions players on March 3 from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

“It’s a look inside of an NFL facility,” Arapoff said. “A lot of people have an idea of what one may be like, or wondered what one might be like, and this gives them a first-hand look at it.

“The information is always available in a lot of different ways, but this is a chance to meet a lot of people and all the questions they might have can be answered in a face-to-face, personal manner."

The goal of the clinic is to provide, share and exchange information in the ever changing world of strength & conditioning.

Clinic speakers will include Arapoff and Rath along with Dr. Ted Lambrinides, Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Kentucky, and Mickey Marotti, Director of Football Performance at Ohio State University. Lambrinides will discuss sports nutrition and making sense of supplements while Mariotti will discuss conditioning.

Breakout sessions in the areas of strength training, speed development & conditioning, and nutrition are designed to meet the needs of coaches, athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike.

“It’s a good way to get a lot of information out in a fun format,” Arapoff said of the clinic. “It’s also a nice way to let the community see the facility and the program that we have.

“It’s a good time of year to have it, too. A lot of schools are starting their offseason stuff and wrapping up their winter conditioning and getting ready for their spring training.”

Participants will be exposed to multiple philosophical approaches the Lions implement into their training program and experience numerous training techniques. The Lions’ training equipment will be on hand for all to try.

Participants will receive a copy of the clinic DVD, a handbook (which includes speaker notes and handouts), a sponsor gift bag and facility tour. There will also be a raffle giveaway and - new in 2012 - a Q&A session with several current Lions players.

The clinic is $90 per participant. Participants can register online, by phone at 313.262.2248, or by filling out the clinic registration form (PDF) and mailing to:
