Cassius Vaughn, a part-time starting cornerback with the Indianapolis Colts the past two seasons, signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions today.

Vaughn signed after a strong workout today in Allen Park.

Vaughn, 26, intercepted three passes in 16 games (four starts) for the Colts last year. He started 11 games for Indianapolis in 2012.

He spent his first two seasons in the league (2010 and 2011) in Denver, where he played in 22 games with three starts.

Vaughn (5-11, 195) joins a Lions cornerback group that includes Darius Slay, Chris Houston, Bill Bentley, Chris Greenwood and Jonte Green. Slay, a second-round pick last year, is expected to compete for a starting spot along with Houston.

Vaughn adds veteran experience to the unit and should compete for playing time.
