Kyle Van Noy Blog: 'I'm going to learn a lot'

Rookie linebacker Kyle Van Noy talks about interacting with fans at Taste of the Lions and hitting the field with the veterans.

The fans at Taste of the Lions Tuesday night were awesome. They're very supportive. There's been kind of a rough time period of not seeing the playoffs here in Detroit so to see how joyful they are and the pride they have was nice. Like they say, "One Pride." It's just remarkable the support they give to the Detroit Lions and the organization.

There's a lot of expectations with fans too and that's a good thing. I just enjoyed talking to them, jokingly giving some fans a hard time and just being down to earth. That's who I am.

The first week of OTA practices went really well. I learned a lot and also found that I need to work on a lot. So it went both ways - there were good things and bad things. But I think it was mostly good because I'm going to learn a lot.

I think the presence of Suh and what he brings to the table as far as his effort and how he interacts with the players and helping them get better is great. You can't coach or teach leadership. It's just something that happens. There's one at each level. You got Tully and Levy and Palmer for the linebackers. They all teach you. That's a lot of experience right there so it's good for me that I can learn from that.

The biggest thing I need to work on is balancing my time as a linebacker and pass rusher. I'm trying to do a lot. And that's okay. I'm used to that. But I'm just trying to get caught up to the pace of the NFL.
