NFL Alumni continue quest for better benefits and community service

Posted Oct 11, 2012

The latest is a partnership with Fathead Custom Graphics, a company out of Detroit extending discounted merchandise for all alumni.

Birmingham Mi, October 2, 2012- Ron Rice, President of the NFL Alumni-Detroit Chapter announced today another community partner providing benefits for retired players in Southeastern Michigan.

Since taking office in 2011, Rice has been instrumental in acquiring benefits and discounts for the players in his chapter.  The latest is a partnership with Fathead Custom Graphics, a company out of Detroit extending discounted merchandise for all alumni.  Additionally Rice secured a loan closet with local home medical company, Binson’s Home Health Care Centers.  The loan closet was created to give medical supplies to players in need who lacked insurance.

Community efforts are a big part of the chapter focus as well as raising money to support their annual Student-Athlete Scholarships.
Rice has taken his chapter alumni to Children’s Hospital, partnered with South Oakland's YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign and conducts a holiday Turkey Give-A-Way.

It is the goal of Rice and this chapter to give back to the community and the fans who supported them during their player years.
'"We look to keep players engaged as much as possible and also spread goodwill throughout the communities that have embraced us and where we live. Partnerships with organizations like Fathead and Binson's who have stepped up and supported us go along way. They support us and we all support the community. We are very grateful and thankful to have these opportunities."
