Game Notes: Lions at Packers

  • By starting in today’s game at Green Bay, T Jeff Backus has now started in 176 consecutive games.
  • Backus, who holds the franchise record for consecutive starts, is the first player in team history to start every game in his first 11 NFL seasons.
  • With starts today by Tampa Bay CB Ronde Barber (197) and Washington LB London Fletcher, Backus will finish the season third among active for consecutive starts.
  • With a 13-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter to put the Lions up 16-10 at Green Bay, WR Calvin Johnson set the team’s all-time single-season record for touchdown receptions (16). He broke the previous record of 15 set by E Cloyce Box in 1952.
  • On his 23-yard catch to put the Lions on the Packers 15-yard line in the second quarter, Johnson surpassed WR Brett Perriman (1,488 in 1995) for second on the team’s all-time single-season receiving yards list.
  • That catch gave him 73 yards in the game and he moved past 1,500 yards on the season. He is the second player in Lions history with 1,500 receiving yards in a single-season.
  • With 4 receptions for 60 yards in the first half, TE Brandon Pettigrew became the first tight end in team history with 80 receptions in a season.
  • He has now registered over 700 receiving yards on the season. He is the first tight end in team history with 700 yards in two different seasons. He has done so in back-to-back years (722 in 2010).
