The Regional Legends for Charity event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

During his time as a Detroit Lion, Charlie Sanders has been able to make an impact both on and off the field.

He was honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2007 after a career that included 336 catches for 4,817 yards with 31 receiving scores.

Tonight, he'll add another honor to the extensive list that he's accumulated over his career.

Sanders has been named the inaugural honoree at the St. Jude Evening of Hope. The Regional Legends for Charity event will benefit the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

He was selected as this year’s honoree for his successful athletic career as well as for his work in the community via the Charlie Sanders Foundation.

The Legends for Charity program is one in a series of events that recognize sports leaders with philanthropic hearts in various markets across the country. The event helps raise funds to help ensure that families do not receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child.

Guests of the St. Jude Evening of Hope will enjoy a cocktail reception, dinner and a live auction. The event will be held at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Mich. Individual tickets are $125 and sponsorships are available, starting at $1,000.
